Wrongful death

When a crash takes someone you love

No claim brings anyone back. What it can do is keep a family steady while it grieves, and hold the people responsible to account.

Gil meets families at home, at a time that suits them, and in the language they're most comfortable in. He handles the insurers, the records and the court filings, and he checks in before every step so nothing happens without your say.

Gil can help with

  • Crashes involving cars, trucks or motorcycles

  • Pedestrians and cyclists struck by a driver

  • Claims for spouses, children and parents

  • Estates that need a claim opened

What a wrongful death claim looks at

  • The support that's gone

The income and the help around the house your loved one would have given in the years ahead.

  • Companionship and care

The love, advice and company a spouse, a parent or a child has lost.

  • Funeral and medical costs

The bills that arrive while a family is still in shock.

  • Who can bring the claim

Usually close family. Gil will explain who can file in your case and how the claim is shared.

What families ask first

Is it too soon to call?

There's no right time, and calling doesn't commit you to anything. Some families call in the first week to stop the insurance calls; others wait. Deadlines do apply, so it helps to know them early.

Do we need to go to court?

Many claims settle without a trial. If one has to go to court, Gil will tell you what that means for your family before anything is filed.

Can the claim go ahead while there's a criminal case?

Yes. A civil claim is separate from any criminal case against the driver, and it can move forward whatever the outcome there.

What does it cost?

No fee unless there's a recovery. Case costs come out of a recovery, and if there isn't one, the family owes neither the fee nor the costs.

Talk with Gil when you're ready.
