Gilberto “Gil” Brathwaite
Personal injury lawyer
A Stockton kid who came home to practice, and who'd rather sit at your kitchen table than behind a big desk.
Gil's mother came to Stockton from Colón, Panama, and raised him speaking Spanish at home and English everywhere else. He worked summers at a packing shed on the east side and paid his way through the University of the Pacific, a few miles from where he grew up.
After law school he spent several years on the other side, reading claim files for an insurance defense firm in Sacramento. He learned how adjusters value an injury and how quickly they close a file when nobody pushes back. In 2019 he opened his own office on the Miracle Mile to do the pushing.
He takes a small number of cases at a time, returns calls himself, and meets clients wherever they can manage: the office, their home, or a hospital room.

Who you'll talk to
Two people on your case, both bilingual
Gil handles the legal work himself. Anabel, his case manager, keeps your file moving: she schedules records requests, tracks your medical bills and calls with updates. Both speak English and Spanish, so you can switch whenever it's easier.
“Most people I meet have never needed a lawyer. My job is to make the process make sense, in whichever language they think in.” — Gil
